1963
12 Jan: Citizens Council renamed Bharat Vikas Parishad on Vivekananda's birth centenary. Lala Hans Raj Gupta becomes first President; Dr. Suraj Prakash first Secretary General. 10 Jul: BVP registered under Societies Registration Act 1860.
1967
First National Group Song Competition held. President Zakir Hussain distributes prizes. First public Prakalp.
1968
First branch outside Delhi opened at Dehradun.
1969
NITI journal launched. Dr. Suraj Prakash becomes first Managing Editor.
1972
BVP decides to install 18.5-foot equestrian statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Delhi. Foundation stone laid by Babu Jagjeevan Ram.
1973
President V.V. Giri unveils Shivaji statue. Dr. L.M. Singhvi introduces four Sutras — Sampark, Sahyog, Sanskar, Sewa.
1975
Emergency declared forces BVP to suspend activities. Publication of NITI halted.
1977
BVP resumes activities after Emergency withdrawal.
1982
BVP constitutes a National Governing Board.
1983
First Governing Board meeting held. 31 members from 9 states attended.
1985
Justice Hans Raj Khanna becomes President. BVP expands to South India.
1988
Silver Jubilee (25 years) celebrated. 100 branches milestone crossed. New projects launched.
1990
First Viklang Sahayata Kendra established in Delhi.
1991
Shri Piara Lal Rahi becomes Secretary General. After demise of Dr. Suraj Prakash.
1992
First international branch established in Canada. Country divided into 5 zones.
1993
Country divided into 9 zones. Central office property acquired. New scheme introduced.
1995
National Award for handicapped welfare awarded. 80G exemption granted.
1997
Shilanyas of Bharat Vikas Bhawan performed.
1998
Fifth Sutra "Samarpan" added.
2000
Bharat Vikas Bhawan inaugurated (HQ). New national programmes launched.
2004
National Award to Ludhiana Viklang Kendra. Gyan Prabha magazine & Vikas Mitra Yojana launched.
2007
BVP adopts national flag. Website launched. Motto adopted.
2019
Regions increased from 7 to 9. Online Bharat Ko Jano Competition launched.
2020
₹2.11 Crore donated to PM Cares Fund. Shri Gajendra Singh Sandhu becomes President.
2021
Closing ceremony of Janam Shatabdi Varsh.
2024
Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel elected 13th National President.
2026
Shri Sunil Khera becomes National Secretary General. Shri Sanjeev Miglani serves as Finance Secretary.
